They could have made this R. I doubt under 17s have much interest in a 1940s NY socialite. Having it contain no smoking scenes would have made it unrealistic to the poit of ruining it. I was surprised to find how many well known mainstream movies are R rated. These would all be shown on UK network TV - maybe some only after 9.00pm.
