Ganna (Anna) Kostygina is a first-year fellow. She received her M.A. and her Ph.D. degrees in Communication from the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication. Currently, Anna’s research focuses on smokeless tobacco marketing, including marketing strategies to promote and counter smokeless tobacco use. She is engaged in research on developing and evaluating messages that discourage use of novel smokeless products. Her work also involves analysis of previously secret tobacco industry documents on smokeless marketing strategies. These interests build on her prior community-based research training at the University of Kentucky Tobacco Policy Research Program, where she collaborated on a NHLBI-funded intervention project aimed to promote smoke-free policies in rural Kentucky communities.
