Exploring Retailers Abandonment of Tobacco Sales

  Patricia McDaniel, Ph.D. is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences.  She received her Ph.D.  in sociology from Rutgers University.  She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education at UCSF.  Dr. McDaniel’s research focuses on broad strategies that tobacco companies have employed in “corporate social responsibility” or other public relations campaigns.  She has also begun exploring a new and understudied area of tobacco control:   voluntary, pro-health tobacco-related initiatives by businesses and public and media responses to those initiatives.
