Prakash babu Kodali, PhD, MPhil, MPH
Prakash Babu Kodali, PhD, is a Fulbright fellow at UCSF-CTCRE. He received his Master of Public Health (MPH) from University of Hyderabad, India and doctorate in Public Health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He is associated with Central University of Kerala, India, as an Assistant Professor where his work is dedicated to strengthening health systems for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, with a special focus on chronic diseases attributable to tobacco use. His expertise includes survey research, secondary analysis of large-scale data, and mixed-methods studies. Dr. Kodali’s research portfolio includes the study of tobacco usage patterns in India, international comparisons of tobacco cessation behaviors, the impact of tobacco-control laws, and the efficacy of anti-tobacco health education strategies. At UCSF-CTCRE, his work focuses on tobacco cessation among socio-economically vulnerable groups. His research combines nationally representative datasets, key informant interviews, and epidemiological approaches to develop a comprehensive framework for improving access and utilization of tobacco cessation services in the United States and India.
